Imagine our strength when we work together

Opioids are powerful painkillers that help with pain when you take them as prescribed. When misused, they can lead to addiction and even death. In Arizona, there were 8,365 suspected opioid overdoses from June 2017 through June 2018. Of these suspected overdoses, 1,301 were fatal.

Every day, the Arizona Department of Health Services updates these numbers. Every day, they go up.

It’s time to act! Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) is providing education on the misuse of opioids so that everyone can learn how to prevent addiction. We are working with community organizations to expand treatment resources and support recovery.

We invite you to join with us. Every Arizonan can make a difference—whether it’s knowing the five things to help prevent misuse, asking for help, or supporting a loved one.

Safe and easy drug disposal

Have you stopped taking a prescription opioid?

Don’t just toss unused drugs in the trash or dump prescriptions down the drain. It’s not safe for the environment. To prevent visitors, children, and pets from having access, turn in your unused or expired prescriptions at a drug take-back kiosk.
