Opioid overdoses have increased 74 percent in Arizona since 2013, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services. The number jumped to 1,301 suspected opioid overdose deaths in just one year—June 2017 to June 2018. Of these deaths, 34 percent involved prescription opioids and no other drugs.
